2 Suspects arrested in robbery and beating of paralyzed homeowner
The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery investigation.
Robert Chastin McFadden, 21, of Cross Lanes and Joey Lee Ashworth, 22, of Scott Depot, are charged with armed robbery.
On July 15, 2013, two deputies responded to a call about a burglary on Rocky Lane in Cross Lanes. One of the residents said he had arranged a deal deal. He said he went to a parking lot in Cross Lanes where one of his friends sold grass clippings which the customers thought was marijuana. When the customers later realized the marijuana was not real, and got made and tracked down the resident on Rocky Lane.
Two men entered the residence on Rocky Lane and struck the 19-year-old man several times. He is paralyzed from the waist down, and he was unable to defend himself from the attack. The attackers also stole prescription pills, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
McFadden and Ashworth are being held in the South Central Regional Jail.
Deputies may pursue additional charges against others involved in planning the attack. The investigation is continuing.
