Detectives with the Huntington Police Department have released the name of the victim in Thursday morning's shooting.
Detectives say Lorenzo M. Craig, 25, is the man who was shot and killed outside of Poppy's Bar and Grill on 8th Avenue at 1 a.m.
Detectives say Craig is originally from Detroit, but has been in the Huntington area for several years. Still no word on who shot Craig.
Investigators tell 13 News 8th Avenue between Hal Greer Blvd and 17th Street will be shut down until later this morning, following a fatal shooting.
Huntington Police Chief Skip Holbrook said the victim was found shot to death in the grass outside of Poppy's Bar and Grill around 1 a.m.
Holbrook said they believe the victim and individuals involved were inside the bar prior to the shooting.
This is the second deadly bar shooting in Huntington within the past month. However, police said they have not had any particular issues with Poppy's since it opened in 2012.
The bar owners are being extremely helpful and cooperative, Holbrook said.
The motive for the shooting is unclear at this time, Holbrook said. Detectives are looking into several leads and said some witnesses are cooperating with the investigation.
Detectives have tentatively identified the body but said they are in the process of notifying family members.
No arrests have been made yet.
A man was found shot to death in the grass next to Poppy's Bar and Grill on the corner of Hal Greer Blvd and 8th Avenue.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and processing the scene right now.
A person has been shot in the 1600 block of 8th Avenue in Huntington.
Cabell County 911 dispatchers received the call around 1 a.m. Thursday.
At this time, there is no word on the condition of the victim.
Officers and detectives with the Huntington Police Department are currently on the scene.
