Meigs County Sheriff's Department are working to find funds to add another member to their team.
The subject of choice, Zach, a German Shepherd who is being trained as a dual purpose officer to help aide with drug crimes in the county.
According to a recent news release, Sheriff Keith Wood says having a K-9 officer has been a priority on his list since becoming sheriff because it will provide a safe place to live. The office is seeing monetary issues when funding the K-9 Unit and other crucial programs.
Although Sheriff Wood has applied for grants additional donations are needed to match those funds.
Citizens are asked to make a tax deductible donation used to protect Meigs County. Checks may be made payable to the Meigs County Sheriff's K-9 Program, or to the Meigs County Sheriff's Law Enforcement Trust Fund and taken to the sheriff's office located at 104 East 2nd Street, Pomeroy, Ohio 45769 or at the Farmers Bank .
