A pilot from West Virginia died in a South Carolina plane crash on Monday.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. in some woods in the North Santee area, according to a local CBS affiliate.
The plane's pilot, John Prince Harris, 79, of Charleston, West Virginia, died in the crash, according to Coroner Kenny Johnson. He added that Harris also had a home in the Georgetown area.
The aircraft that crashed is a vintage military aircraft. The plane, a 1963 Folland Gnat T.1 with tail number N18GT (formerly XS-105), was departing the airport at the time, according to the NTSB.
The FAA and the NTSB have been notified of the crash and an investigation is ongoing.
