Charleston police say they have captured a man wanted in connection to a shooting in Charleston, WV.

Jamar Deshawn Adams, 25, of Charleston was arrested on Mon.  Adams was charged with malicious wounding and three counts of wanton endangerment.

Adams is being held in the South Central Regional Jail.

The father of a victim in a weekend shooting said he is in shock his daughter was caught in the middle of gunfire.

"I don't even remember it happened so fast.  All I know is that my baby was shot," he said.

Jodicy Bateman, 21, was sitting in her mom's car on Second Avenue and came under attack on Saturday.

"I came out of the house, she said daddy I've been shot, and that's all I knew after that," he said.

Bateman's dad said his daughter was getting out of a black Durango when a suspect started spraying bullets everywhere.

Police said the woman was caught in the middle of a crossfire. She was shot in the arm and transported to CAMC General with non-life threatening injuries.  Bateman has since been released from the hospital.

"I don't know who it was, I don't know who did it," her dad said.

But, Charleston police said they do know who shot the woman.

Jamar Adams, 25, was having an altercation with 23-year-old Donovan Hardison when he started shooting, police said.

The gunshots missed Hardison and hit Bateman instead.

The shooter is no stranger to police, they said.

"Mr. Adams is well known the Charleston Police Department.  He has criminal activities and is known to be involved with activities that would result in violence," said Lt. Steve Cooper, Criminal Investigation Division of the Charleston Police Department.
