Posted: Updated:

Olive Hill, Kentucky city council members met Tuesday night to go over its proposed budget.

City leaders including the fire and police chief made their proposals to asked the city for more money to repair a broken fire truck and hire another police officer to help cover all shifts.

Council members say they're also proposing an occupation tax that could cost anyone working in the city 1.5 percent of their income.

The police chief says it could help his department do its job.

"The options for a city to raise revenue are very limited, so I can understand how they arrived at it if they don't pass it I don't have any idea what will happen, but I'm sure there's going to be services and personnel cut from each department," Police Chief Bobby Hall said.

The budget will require a second reading at the next regular meeting.
