Two men are in the hospital after being exposed to a chemical in Nitro.
According to emergency responders, 75 gallons of nitric acid was exposed at Catalyst Refiners, at 1580 1st Avenue South in Nitro, shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday.
One of the men suffered burns, while the other was suffering from inhalation
Both men were decontaminated at the scene and both were able to walk to the ambulance, Kanawha County Ambulance, which transported them to the hospital.
Emergency responders tell 13 News that the acid has been contained to one room inside the building, the Production Room, and there has been no evidence of public exposure outside the building.
Crews are working to neutralize the situation.
The Institute Fire Department were called to the scene just as a precaution.
The cause of the exposure is not yet known.
Crews are investigating.
