The USS LST-325 is making its way back down the river and Wednesday night it docked in Ashland, KY.
Visitors were out Thursday touring the World War II ship. The 328-foot ship was used to carry soldiers and equipment. It was also used in the D-Day invasion as well as in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
We spoke with James K. Wilson who drove from 45 minutes away just to take in all the history. "I think everybody should come up here and see how these guys had to live, so that we could be free," Wilson said.
Tours of the ship are around 45 minutes long. Prices are $10 for adults, $5 for children between 6-17. Children under 5 are free. Families of two adults and two children are $20.
The ship will depart Sept. 9 then head to Madison, Indiana.
