There has been a big break in a 1999 cold case in Lewis County, WV.
Overnight, investigators arrested and charged Joseph Metz, 39, with first degree murder, kidnapping, and robbery.
Investigators said Metz killed his mother and grandmother.
Metz has been a long-time suspect in the disappearances of Mary Friend, his mother, and Maxine Stalnaker, his grandmother.
Both women went missing 13 years ago. Friend's car was later recovered in Harrison County. Their bodies were never found.
Metz has been a target of the investigation for several years, even submitting to a polygraph test.
Metz was arraigned in Lewis County magistrate court early Thursday morning. He is currently in the Central Regional Jail with bail set at $250,000.
A press conference has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, where investigators said more information will be released.
