We're just days away from one of the biggest events in tri-state. The PATH to the Cure is a local benefit to bring awareness to breast cancer.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, more than 2,400 people will be running and walking in this year's 5K. The PATH to the Cure 5K walk/run was inspired as a way to create unity in the community related to supporting better breast health by providing free mammograms to local uninsured and under insured women. "This is a community wide event helping women of this tri-state. All the money raised stays here," said Julie Neal, co-chair of the event.
The race begins at 3 p.m.
PATH to the Cure, the St. Mary's Foundation have also joined forces with the Big Sandy Superstore Arena and Clear Channel Communications to create a benefit concert with country music singer and recent Dancing with the Stars champion, Kellie Pickler. She brought national attention to breast cancer in 2012 when she shaved her head in a show of support for a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit PATH to the Cure.
