Hundreds of people and their families lined the streets of downtown Barboursville Thursday evening to catch the Cabell-Midland Homecoming parade. It happened in Milton last year, and alternates every other year with Barboursville.
The parade was filled with hundreds of students, some on floats, others in the marching band, and shiny cars drove homecoming attendants. Fire trucks roared their sirens as others on floats threw candy to the crowd.
Dozens of kids of all ages rushed to grab their share of the free candy. One group of students formed a reading council and dressed as their favorite characters. "Lots of cars like one passing right now and happy smiles, that's pretty nice. People laughing, smiling, I think its pretty nice," Alexander Laverty said.
