A new assisted living facility is coming to Barboursville, WV.
Community leaders along with West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin gathered at the future site on Route 60 for a special ceremony Wednesday afternoon.
Following a few speeches about the need for the facility, several leaders grabbed the ceremonial shovels and dug the first shovels of dirt to officially kick off the construction. The new facility is called The Village at Riverview, and managers say construction on the 37,000 square foot facility should begin sometime next week.
The place will have 54 units and can house up to 60 residents giving them 24-hour care for their specific needs.
"We welcome husbands and wives who can live together, and that's not always an option in various assisted living or nursing home environments," Executive Director Patty Perry said.
The new facility will be right next door to the new EMS station on Route 60 in Barboursville.
