University of Charleston and WVSU football team's look towards better play
INSTITUTE, WV -
Although the University of Charleston and West Virginia State University football team's are not exactly where they want to be record wise, they still have plenty of time to finish out the year strong.
The Golden Eagles are 2-3 on the season. Last season through five games they were 4-1.
"I think what we haven't done is put together a good four quarters of UC football," said UC head coach, Pat Kirkland. "We've shown highlights here and there. We just have to put it all together for four straight quarters.
For the Yellow Jackets, they are 0-5 on the year, but one defensive back is making a new name for himself.
Sophomore Romell Haley had just one interception as an injury cut short his season last year. Through five games this season, Haley has four interceptions.
Number one, he's a great athlete and very fluid when he runs," said WVSU head coach, Jon Anderson. Number two, he works very hard at practice."
The Yellow Jackets are on the road this Saturday as they take on West Virginia Wesleyan College. As for the Golden Eagles, it's Homecoming. They will host Glenville State College at 1 p.m.
