HUNTINGTON, WV -
A 19-year-old is charged with robbing a local restaurant in South Webster.
Jonathan Bellar, 19, of Wheelersburg, is charged with felony robbery and breaking and entering, according to a news release from the Scioto County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say they were called to Giovanni's on Main Street right before 5 p.m. Monday after reports of a man dressed in a large coat, ski mask and gloves went into the restaurant and left with the cash register. Deputies say Bellar dropped a gun outside the restaurant which later was found to be an air-soft pistol.
Witnesses told deputies Bellar was seen getting into a white, four-door, Chevy Cavalier that appeared to have a tee shirt covering the licence plate and going in the direction of Wheelersburg. Deputies say that same car was seen leaving another business a short time later. After a traffic stop, deputies were able to detain Bellar.
Deputies say they were able to find the cash register, clothing and a mask in a creek on Railroad Hollow Road. They were also able to recover the cash taken from the register. During the investigation of the Giovanni's robbery, deputies discovered Bellar had broken into the Country Store in South Webster just after 1 a.m. the same morning.
Bellar was taken to the Scioto County Jail. His bail was set at $90,000.
