Breast cancer survivors and their families were honored in Huntington Tuesday night.
The Cabell Huntington Hospital Breast Health Center held a survivor dinner at the New Baptist Church on 28th street in Huntington. Organizers said one in three people are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and they wanted to show their support to survivors with a special event.
Folks were treated to a full dinner complete with salads, cold drinks, and a sliced turkey dinner with home style side dishes. Members of the Cabell Midland show choir entertained the crowd during the dinner.
Participants were asked to join in a cancer survivor's walk after the dinner and spoke about how many years they have beaten the disease. Organizers said the dinner was moved to the church annex this year due to the larger crowd.
"That is a good thing because people are living longer with breast cancer that's the important thing is to get out there get screened keep up with your mammogram so that if you are diagnosed with breast cancer its early and treatable," director of breast center Marsha Dillow said.
They hope to continue the tradition next year.
