Fight erupts on the field after middle school football game
Parents stormed the football field after a game Thursday.
It's the last thing many spectators would expect at a middle school football game. Parents broke out into a fight after a game on Thursday.
It happened at the Elkview Middle School at Cedar Grove game. Adults could be heard yelling at players, "Get in the locker room, get in the locker room." Cell phone video from the game painted a chaotic picture. Parent's could be heard yelling for their children.
According to the Assistant Superintendent of Kanawha County Schools, Lou Maynus, the investigation is ongoing. The most important aspect right now, she said, is that no students were injured in the fight. Maynus added that she was told an Elkview student suffered an injury as a result of a play near the end of the game. Maynus said the injury was not a result of the fight.
No official word has been released on what caused the fight.
As far as injuries sustained by parents, people who were at the game say at least two adults were visibly bleeding.
