WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (AP) - Mingo County has been selected as a site for a state-supported hog farm that will help feed inmates at state prisons.
The West Virginia Department of Agriculture also plans to locate a hog farm in the northern part of the state.
The Williamson Daily News (http://bit.ly/1c98D47 ) says Mingo County Redevelopment Authority director Steve Kominar announced the county's selection for the southern farm last week during an authority board meeting.
He says the 500-head hog farm will offer new job opportunities and skills for local residents.
