Ohio Dept. of Health employee under investigation for piracy of copyrighted material
A report issued by the Ohio Inspector General revealed an investigation into an employee of the Ohio Dept. of Health
who went around security measures to use the state's government network for
pirating copyright-protected media.
Edward Jones Jr., an information technology employee, was
named in the investigation. The investigation
found Jones transferred thousands of movies, TV shows and comic books through
the use of torrent and file-sharing sites.
The investigation began when Viacom Inc. identified an
Internet address, owned by the state of Ohio,
being used to transfer the copyrighted material.
The inspector general forwarded the report to local and
federal prosecuting authorities.
