Volunteers are being asked to help clean up Kanawha County. The Kanawha County Commission will host its last of three Fall Clean-Ups on Saturday Oct. 26. Those interested in helping should meet behind the Go Mart in Cabin Creek. The event is scheduled for 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The commission has held two previous clean-ups this fall in Sissonville and Institute, which resulted in the collection of 234 tons of trash, 14 tons of scrap metal, 3,780 tires, 29 tons of e-cycle and serving 1265 visitors according to a news release from the Kanawha County Commission. "This is a great opportunity for citizens to dispose of hard to get rid of items such as tires and tube TVs for free, it's important to dispose of these items properly so they don't end up over hillsides or in our streams", commented commission president Kent Carper.
All items will be accepted with the exception of gas and propane tanks, paint, chemicals, motor oil and other hazardous materials, such as meth making materials. This will be the county's final clean-up until the spring.
