Kenova, WV Pumpkin House draws thousands of guests

Posted: Updated:

The Kenova, WV Pumpkin House opened its gates this weekend to guests. The home features 3,000 hand-carved pumpkins. Pumpkins ranging from 30-pounds to baby pumpkins are on display for the public.

Kenova Mayor Ric Griffith says the home is full of community involvement.

"We see the excitement of childhood, but the wonderment that the work involves," said Mayor Griffith. "Many of the volunteers include children. They scoop the pumpkins, carve them out, and rinse them. It's really fun to get them engaged and show them how much work this is."

The Kenova Pumpkin House estimates nearly 30,000 people will visit the home over the next week.

All of the pumpkins are carved by volunteers. The display will remain open until the beginning of November.
