Officers say homeowner shot suspected robber in Coal Grove, OH

COAL GROVE, OH -
The name of a suspect who was shot in an early morning breaking and entering was released by the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.
Brandon Blaike Danner, 18, of Duty Drive in Coal Grove, was shot multiple times while he was attempting to steal from a shed, according to police.
Sheriff Jeff Lawless with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office says Danner was shot four times in the upper torso with a .380 caliber handgun. The sheriff says Danner will be charged with felony breaking and entering and other charges are pending as the investigation is on-going.
The sheriff says the homeowner who shot Danner is not facing any charges and is claiming self-defense.
Detectives are investigating a shooting that happened in Coal Grove, OH, early Wednesday morning.
Officers with the Coal Grove Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office say the shooting happened in the 600 block of Washington Street at 6 a.m. The sheriff says a homeowner saw a man breaking into his storage building in his back yard. The homeowner told investigators he confronted the man, who had already removed a motorcycle from the building, and the man lunged at him with a knife. The homeowner told investigators that's when he shot him several times. Officers say the homeowner shot the man with a small caliber handgun.
The sheriff is not releasing any names at this time. The suspect was still at the home when emergency crews arrived. He was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital where he underwent surgery, according to the sheriff. Sheriff Lawless says the man was shot in the lung and lost a lot of blood.
Currently, the homeowner is not facing any charges. The condition of the suspect is not known at this time.
