(AP) - Kentucky State Police will
provide training to schools on how to respond in case of shootings.
State police Commissioner Rodney Brewer created a Safe Schools Committee
shortly after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut
The Active Shooter Training Program includes lock-down drills and
role-playing of shooting scenarios.
Brewer said it's important to equip school personnel with the resources and
training they need to detect early warning signs to head off shootings.
State police are offering the training free to schools. The training has
been tested at schools in western Kentucky.
