West Liberty University sorority collaborates with the WLU Green Initiative Committee

Posted: Updated:

West Liberty University sorority Beta Rho Epsilon is serving the campus and community by collaborating with the WLU Green Initiative Committee efforts to keep the Hilltop green.

Twice a month, sorority members will continue to collect cardboard, aluminum cans and paper products from administrative buildings, Shotwell and Shaw halls, where they have placed containers on each floor of the three story buildings. The recyclables will then be picked up and transported to the recycle shed located just behind the College Union.

From there, the employees of the Wheeling Area Training Center for the Handicapped will transport the materials to the appropriate destinations.

The WLU Green Initiative Committee established a general campus-wide recycling program in conjunction with WATCH last spring. The program ran on a volunteer basis for a month to ensure it worked well with office needs.

Now, WATCH members visit campus on a regular basis to pick-up recycled materials free of charge.

Sorority members collecting the recycled material include: students Sami Blair, Coshocton, Ohio; Kristina Bustamante, Wheeling; Tessa Kandel, Malvern, Ohio; President Ashlee Robinson, Wellsburg, WV. and Vice President Camille Bernabei, Weirton, WV.
