A man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his neighbor.
State police said Ronnie Lee Gunther shot and killed his neighbor, William Ward, on Wednesday night. Troopers said the men appeared to have had an ongoing dispute.
Ward was pronounced dead on the scene. Troopers said alcohol played a role in the shooting
Gunther is being held at the Western Regional Jail.
He'll be arraigned by a magistrate judge later this morning.
According to a neighbor who was at the house before the shooting, two men had an argument over a dog that was killed over one year ago.
One of the men left the house and later came back and shot the other man multiple times at close range.
The victim has not been transported from the scene.
One male is in custody.
The Wayne County Sheriffs Office, Fort Gay Police, and the West Virginia State Police are on the scene investigating.

According to dispatchers, it happened at a house in the area of 32207 Route 52 at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6.
According to the West Virginia State Police, one person was reported shot.
Their injuries are not yet known.
State Police took one person into custody for questioning.
