Update: Man taken to the hospital for medical evaluation after standoff in Vinton County, OH



According to a news release issued by the Vinton County Sheriff's Office, police were able to talk the suspect, identified, as Gary Michael Lemay, 29, of McCarthur, out of his house without incident.

He was taken to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, OH for medical evaluation.

The news release says that police responded to the suspect's house, located in the area of East High Street, due to an anonymous tip about a man with an outstanding warrant was reported to be at the house.

Lemay met police at the door, and had a knife held to his throat.

It took police several hours to talk Lemay out of his house.

According to the news release, a female and three children, all of whom are related to Lemay, were inside the house, but were free to leave and were never in danger.

Assisting the Vinton County Sheriff's Office were the McArthur Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Vinton County EMS



Police are on the scene of a reported standoff in Vinton County, OH.

According to police, a call came in around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, of a male, holding himself inside his home with a female in the area of East High Street and Jane Drive in McArthur.

It is not yet known if the female is being held hostage or not.

No one has been reported injured.

The Vinton County Sheriff's Office is on the scene.
