Posted: Updated:

Kentucky's Julius Randle's 27 points (23 in the 2nd half) and 13 rebounds weren't enough as #2 Michigan State defeated the Wildcats 78-74 at the Champions Classic in Chicago.

The Wildcats were trailing by 13 nearly halfway through the second half, but came all the way back to tie the game at 66. Kentucky never led in the game. James Young added 19 and Andrew Harrison added 11 for Kentucky.

Michigan State was led by Keith Appling's 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

Next up for Kentucky is a familiar opponent, Robert Morris. Last year, the Wildcats fell to Robert Morris in the first round of the National Invite Tournament.
