It started as a drug investigation, but when police arrived to a home on Washington Avenue in Huntington, WV, they found more than just drugs.

West Virginia State Police sent 13 News photos of the appalling conditions inside the home.

Troopers say Dora Helen White, 43, was arrested and charged with drug possession, after she admitted to selling prescription pills and a search revealed she was carrying other drugs.

Police say they also found three dogs inside, living in garbage, and their own feces.

Vincent Bocook, 55, and Joseph Slad, 47, were arrested and charged with animal cruelty.

In addition, police say Slad was in a running car at the time of the arrest, which also netted him a DUI charge.  One trooper says he was surprised Slad could even stand, considering he had a blood alcohol content of .291, almost quadruple the legal limit in West Virginia.

The arrests are the result of an investigation that has been going on for more than a month.
