Man in jail on drug charges, assaulting officer, in Boyd County, KY

One man is in jail after an undercover drug buy results in an officer being hit by a car door in Boyd County, KY.
According to the Boyd County Sheriff's Department, Dennis Rigsby Jr. was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 19, and was charged with trafficking a controlled substance and wanton endangerment of a police officer.
Police say the drug unit of the Boyd County Sheriffs Department set up a controlled buy of heroin at Taco Bell, located on 29th Street and Winchester Avenue, in which an informant was going to meet with Rigsby.
Police saw Rigsby exit Taco Bell to get into his vehicle, and went over to his vehicle and knocked on his window. Rigsby attempted to pull out, in which police opened his door to stop him, after which Rigsby struck an officer with his car door.
Rigsby stopped his vehicle after police instructed him at gunpoint to stop.
According to police, Rigsby had heroin in a cigarette pack beside his seat.
Rigsby is being held in the Boyd County Detention Center.
