Oglebay Resort's Winter Festival of Lights recently was listed by Yahoo Travel as one of seven top light shows to see in the United States.

The 300-acre annual light show opened Nov. 8 and runs through Jan. 5, 2014.

Its latest accolade lists it in the same company as the National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington, D.C., the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting in New York and Disneyland Park's "It's a Small World" attraction.

The Winter Festival of Lights features 80 large displays, with a new one added each year. This year's new addition is "Christmas Tree Farm," which won last year's Festival of Lights New Idea Contest. The idea came from Madison Zoladz, a local 7th grade student who said she was inspired by the number of cars she saw carrying Christmas trees during the holiday season.
