Whitesville, WV woman shoots her son-in-law in self defense
A man is recovering at the hospital after being shot by his mother-in-law in this home.
A man is recovering at the hospital after being shot by his mother-in-law in Whitesville, WV. Boone County deputies say the incident occurred along Seng Creek Road at approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013.
Deputies say Nathan Amick had been involved in an argument with his wife at the home. Family members say Amick had been drinking and acting violently.
Law enforcement responded to the situation and Amick was asked to leave the home.
A few hours later, Amick's mother-in-law and the home owner, Debbie Thompson, called 911. She informed dispatchers Amick was trying to break into her home. When officers arrived on scene, they learned that Thompson fired a single gunshot from a .25 caliber handgun that struck Amick in the lower abdomen.
Amick was transported to CAMC General by Air Evacuation. Family members say he is in critical condition.
Amick will face charges when he is released from the hospital. Thompson will not be charged.
