Marshall University dominates East Carolina, 59-28
HUNTINGTON, WV -
It was a memorable Senior Day for the Thundering Herd football team as they won, 59-28 over East Carolina to clinch the East Division of Conference USA. Marshall will now have to wait until Saturday's conference games are over to find out if they host or will play on the road for the championship game Dec. 7.
The Thundering Herd jumped out to a 24-0 lead as they went into the half with a 24-10 advantage. They stretched that lead to 25 points as they led 45-20 after three quarters.
Quarterback Rakeem Cato threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Tommy Schuler caught nine passes for 147 yards. Running back Essray Taliaferro became the first Marshall back to rush over 1,000 yards in the season since 2009.
With the win, Marshall finished the regular season undefeated at home. It's the first time that has happened since 2002.
