Matt Handley, a registered nurse and EMT/paramedic, has been selected HealthNet Aeromedical Services' new director of operations-North. 

In this role, Handley will work with the flight team leaders of the HealthNet Aeromedical Services bases in Morgantown, Buckhannon and Martinsburg to continue to provide safe, high-quality critical care transport services.

Handley attended Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C., and is a graduate of the paramedic program at Eastern Gateway Community College in Steubenville, Ohio. He earned his nursing degree at Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y. He has worked as a professional fireman in East Liverpool, Ohio, and as a flight paramedic in West Mifflin, Pa. He also spent five years in leadership roles in the critical care transport industry.

HealthNet was formed in 1986 and has safely completed more than 70,000 patient missions. Headquartered in Charleston, it operates or is affiliated with eight helicopter bases serving West Virginia and portions of Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Tennessee. 

Sponsor hospitals of the HealthNet system include Cabell Huntington Hospital, Charleston Area Medical Center and West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown. HealthNet is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems.
