According to Steve Durbin, Assistant Chief with the Flatrock Volunteer Fire Department, a house was destroyed by a fire in Mason County, WV. This happened at 2588 Bear Wallow Road at 2:17 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26.
Durbin says that according to the homeowner of the house, he saw smoke coming from the ceiling of a pipe of a wood burner stove, and a fire quickly spread throughout the house.
The homeowner got out of the house safely.
According to Durbin, no one was injured, however, the house was destroyed, along with a garage, which was separate from the house, which the fire spread to. The fire also spread to some grass, causing a minor brush fire.
Durbin says the fire was under control some time after 3 p.m., was out around 4 p.m., and crews cleared the scene at 4:30 p.m.
Along with the Flatrock Volunteer Fire Department, the Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the fire.
Crews are investigating a fire which spread to another structure in Mason County, WV.
According to dispatchers, it happened in the area of the 3000 block of Bear Wallow Road at 2:17 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26.
Dispatchers say the fire was in a house, and it reportedly spread to another structure.
No injuries were reported.
The extent of damage or the cause of the fire is not yet known.
The Flatrock Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and are investigating.
