Vehicle rollover accident sends one to the hospital, causes power outages, in Boone County, WV

According to dispatchers, the Whitesville Railroad Crossing has been reopened.


According to dispatchers, power has been restored in Whitesville, WV, however, the Whitesville Railroad Crossing remains shut down until further notice.



One person is in the hospital after a vehicle rollover accident in Boone County, WV.

Dispatchers say it happened near the Whitesville Railroad Crossing near the Family Dollar, located at 37220 Coal River Road in the town of Whitesville, at 6:09 p.m. Wednesday, January 1.

According to dispatchers, the driver of the vehicle, a male, hit a power pole, knocking it down.

The victim was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Due to the power pole being down and power lines being on the railroad tracks, power outages have been reported throughout Whitesville, and the Whitesville Railroad Crossing in the area of the accident is shut down.
