DHHR says over 100 treated and 1000 calls taken about health issues due to water crisis

CHARLESTON, WV -
The WV Department of Health and Human Resources released numbers of people treated at area hospitals due to exposure to contaminated water. They have also released the number of calls into the poison control center regarding human and animal exposure to contaminated water.
According to the WV DHHR:
142 patients were treated and released at 10 area hospitals. 6 patients required admittance to 2 of the hospitals
995 people placed calls to poison center regarding human exposure.
64 calls into poison control regarding animal exposure.
201 calls were for information only.
The total number of calls made to Poison Control was well over 1,000.
There may be more people who experienced symptoms like burning sensations or rashes and did not seek medical attention. These are preliminary numbers released by DHHR thus far.
