ELKVIEW, WV -
Lt. Nathan Smith was a 13 year veteran of the Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department.
He was coming home from dinner when the accident occurred, according to Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kevin Clendenin.
Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies have confirmed a volunteer firefighter was killed after the Chevrolet pickup he was driving hit a house, parked car and gas meter.
The accident occurred around just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 in the 5100 block of Elk River Road in Elkview, WV.
Nathan Smith, was identified as the volunteer firefighter and fatal victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers inside the truck at the time of the accident, and no one inside the home was injured as a result of the crash.
According to a press release sent by the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department, Elk River Road remained closed while authorities conducted their investigation.
The road was reopened shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Feb 9.
Smith was a member of the Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department.

According to dispatchers, it happened at the 5100 block of Elk River Road North shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.
Dispatchers say injuries have been reported, but their severity is not yet clear.
The 5100 block of Elk River Road North temporally shut down while crews cleared the scene.
