Marshall University hosts 'Nutrition Extravaganza'
HUNTINGTON, WV -
Nutrition and healthy eating has been a hot-button topic in the region for years. Members of the Marshall University Student Association of Nutrition and Dietetics hosted a "Nutrition Extravaganza" Wednesday, March 5. It was part of celebrating National Nutrition Month this March.
Jessica Walden, public relations coordinator for the student association, said students were able to learn about healthy diets via artwork, popping balloons and physical fitness events. "We are just really wanting to get out a lot of information about nutrition and help people to understand the importance of paying attention to what you eat, reading nutrition labels and understanding what that means to their overall health," said Walden.
Healthy snacks and baked goods were also available.
Canned goods and cash donations were collected during the event for the new Marshall University Food Pantry located on campus in the Memorial Student Center.
