The Kentucky State Police Post 14 out of Ashland, KY is investigating an accident that happened along US 60 near RT 5 in Boyd County Thursday.
According to troopers Terrell Banks, of Grayson was traveling westbound along US 60 when he crossed the center lane striking another vehicle driven by David Maggard, also of Grayson causing Maggard to lose control of his vehicle and striking a barrier wall and overturning and striking another vehicle traveling westbound that was driven by Darrell Vincent, of Ashland.
Banks and a passenger Jascy Lizarraga, of Ashland were transported to Kings Daughters Medical Center, and were later released. Maggard and passengers Carmel Maggard and Stephanie Freize, also of Grayson were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center with serious injuries. Maggard and Freize are listed in fair condition, and Carmel Maggard was listed in critical condition.
A fourth passenger Alexandra Bush, of Grayson was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Boyd County Coroner. None of the occupants were wearing a seatbelt.
Vincent and his passenger Betty Vincent were also transported to St. Mary's Medical Center with serious injuries. Darrell Vincent was listed in satisfactory condition, and Betty Vincent was listed in serious condition.
The Kentucky State Police is investigating.
Police are investigating a four vehicle accident in Boyd County, KY that caused road closures.
Boyd County 911 dispatchers say this happened at 5:56 p.m. Thursday on Old U.S. Route 60 and State Route 5 in the area of Paul Coffee Blvd.
Dispatchers say that one person was found dead at the scene, while four others were flown by Health Net to St. Mary's Medical Center, while two were driven to St. Mary's Medical Center. Dispatchers say another person was driven to King's Daughters Medical Center. The victims' conditions are not yet known.
According to dispatchers, this road, which is two lanes, was shut down for several hours, but was re-opened shortly before 11:30 p.m.
While the lanes were shut down, the Kentucky State Police and the Boyd County Sheriff's Office were on the scene diverting traffic on Paul Coffe Blvd., onto Lynn Avenue then to Virginia Avenue, and then back onto Old U.S. Route 60.
The cause of this accident is not yet known.
The Kentucky State Police are investigating.
