Michael Hardway was arrested for malicious wounding in a Charleston stabbing case.
According to Trooper Stepp with the West Virginia State Police, Michael Hardway, the suspect in the overnight stabbing at the Elk River Bar and Grill, was arrested at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday and is charged with malicious wounding.
Trooper Stepp says that Hardway and Jeremy Dexter, the victim, got into a bar fight, and Hardway stabbed Dexter in the abdomen with a box cutter.
According to a criminal complaint, when Hardway tried to flee the scene, he tried to fight with several other bar patrons, in which they stopped him from leaving by physically restraining him, causing him to have several facial wounds.
Dexter was taken to Charleston General Hospital for treatment, but was later released. Due to his facial injuries, Hardway was also taken to Charleston General, but was later released into police custody.
According to Trooper Stepp, Hardway was arraigned at the Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Along with malicious wounding, Hardway is also charged with ten counts of petty larceny in connection to a series of break-ins that occurred in the summer of 2013 at little league concession stands in Pinch, WV.
