Brush fire in Sissonville, WV burns 12 acres. Homes in the area were threatened but did not sustain damage.
SISSONVILLE, WV -
Several agencies responded to a fire at 1970 Hughart Drive around 6:30 p.m. in Sissonville, WV. Metro 911 dispatchers said the fire spread to 10 acres. Firefighters on scene determined it was closer to 12 acres.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control before 8 p.m.
Flames and smoke did not damage any homes, according to crews on scene.
Prior to crews arriving, homeowners and families living in the area, including children, tried to douse the flames with buckets of water.
Firefighters advise this is something you should never do for your safety and protection.
Kanawha County 911 dispatchers say they are responding to a 10 acre brush fire in Sissonville, WV.
The fire broke out on Tuesday, March 11 around 6:30 p.m. at 1970 Hughart Hollow Road.
911 dispatchers say the flames and smoke are threatening a structure about 100 feet away.
No word on how the fire started.
