America's resort is celebrating an important birthday.
The Greenbrier Resort's famous golf course, The Old White Tour Player's Course, turned 100-years-old Saturday, April 19, 2014.
To commemorate the event Greenbrier Resort owner Jim Justice and The Greenbrier Resort's President Jeff Kmiec, along with several other representatives of the resort gathered to remember the course's long history.
Guests were in attendance to watch as Justice hit the ceremonial first ball from the first tee.
Even the 2014 Masters champion Bubba Watson made a surprise appearance.
"Just think of what's gone on this hallowed ground that this over the last 100 years of our country," Justice said. "And everything that's happened and all the fabulous players and dignitaries that have been here. This is really history."
"You know everything they're doing here is family oriented, but bringing sports to West Virginia, Jim is big on bringing sports back and bringing the football team here, the Saints, who I grew up watching, because that's the closest one to my house in Pensacola", said Watson. "So for that it's pretty good what they do and bring the tennis here, and the golf here, I guess the only thing left is baseball."
Justice says he was surprised to see Watson, who will be returning again in the summer for the Greenbrier Classic, which runs the week of July 4.
