West Liberty University graphic design students showcase their work
From April 23-May 8, nine senior graphic design students from the West Liberty University Art Department will showcase their art in the Nutting Gallery.
Free of cost and open to the public, a festive opening will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 23. Light refreshments will be provided.
The featured seniors are Ryan Bland from Bridgeport, Richard Clifford of Wheeling, Anthony DiFabio of Pittsburgh, Pa., Brandi Hollingshead from Bridgeport, Ohio, Corrine Martin from Berkeley Springs, Justyne Obeldobel from Wellsburg, Lindsay Riggs from New Martinsville, Sean Ritner from Wheeling and Alex Wright from Bellaire, Ohio.
“The senior exhibition is important academically because it is a capstone experience for our graphic designers and art educators,” said Brian Fencl, chair of the Department of Journalism, Communication Studies and Visual Art. “It is also a celebration of these students and their commitment to their creativity, passion and chosen fields.”
Skills showcased in the exhibit and learned by each senior graphic design student include screen-printing, linocuts and detailed illustrations.
“The idea behind my portion of the show is interactivity. I want to draw the people who come into the gallery and come up to my piece,” said senior graphic design student Corrine Martin. “My design is unusual in that it is very functional and interactive.”
