Teen arrested and charged with making homemade explosive in Cabell County, WV

Homemade explosives are easy to make but can have dangerous consequences.
They're dangerous and very easy to make; we're talking about homemade explosives.
Last week, a 16-year-old Cabell County teen was arrested after authorities said he made and set off 'Drano bombs' in his front yard.
These homemade explosives are made using aluminum foil mixed with toilet bowl cleaner in a plastic bottle.
"For an untrained person, they can be writing their own death sentence," said Captain Sean Crosier, Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
Cpl. Eric Flower with the Kanawha County Bomb Squad agreed to set off some 'Drano bombs' to show how intense the blast can be. It took less than 90 seconds for some of the bombs to explode.
These bombs are dangerous to make and highly unpredictable.
"They could go off within a few seconds, in the person's hands, or they can go off minutes later," he said.
The teen was charged with wanton endangerment and manufacturing or possessing an explosive. Authorities said adults can be federally prosecuted for making a homemade bomb.
