HUNTINGTON, WV -
After a number of calls to a crime tip line, a Huntington man is now facing drug charges.
Christopher Blair, 29, of West 9th Street, is charged with felony possession with intent to deliver, according to a news release from the Huntington Police Department. Officers with the Special Emphasis Unit say they were told there was nuisance activity at the apartments in the 300 block of 6th Avenue. Officers were given consent to search two different apartments.
The first apartment, where Blair was arrested, officers were able to recover three grams of heroin, scales and drug packaging materials. The tenant in the other apartment also agreed to a search. Officers say they found one gram of heroin, packaging, an AR-15 assault rifle and a handgun. Four people were detained, but were later released. Officers say those four were all from Michigan.
HPD Code Enforcement Officers were also called to the scene. They say the conditions of the apartment building were "deplorable and dangerous conditions."
"This residence was the epitome of a nuisance residence. The repeated tip line calls, heavy foot traffic, information obtained from the prostitution sting on Tuesday night and unsanitary living conditions led to the enforcement action that was taken today," Captain Rocky Johnson stated in the news release.
