UPDATE: Name released in fatal Putnam County, WV accident
CHARLESTON, WV -
The name of a man killed in a motorcycle accident was released by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
Gary Wayne Grim, 52, of Evans, WV died in the two-vehicle accident that took place on May 8 on South Poplar Fork Road. ______
One male is dead after a two vehicle accident occurred in Putnam County, WV.
According to Cpl. William Seanze of the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, who responded to the scene and are investigating, this accident occurred at 6:14 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in the area of South Poplar Fork Road at Scott Depot.
Cpl. Seanze says a male driving a mini-van was traveling south on Route 60 at the intersection of Fletcher Road and was about to make a right onto Fletcher Road, when a male driving a motorcycle, traveling north on South Poplar Fork Road, lost control of his vehicle, sliding onto the center line into the southbound lane, striking the driver's side of the min-van.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained in the accident. The driver's name has not yet been released. The driver of the min-van was not injured.
According to Cpl. Seanze, South Poplar Fork Road was shut down for about one hour until crews could clear the scene.
Along with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Putnam County EMS and the Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
