Boone County, WV man behind bars after admitting to sexually abusing child
A Danville man is behind bars, charged with first degree sexual assault.
According to a press release from the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Johnny James "JJ" Colvin Jr, 27, is accused of sexually assaulting a now 10 year old child relative. Deputies said the mother reported the crime to the Boone County's Sheriff's Office after the child said Colvin committed these acts when the child was between the ages of 5 and 7.
Colvin had attempted to penetrate the child during that two year time period, according to the release.
The release also reads that the case was then turned over to Corporal M.D. Foster who is an investigator assigned to the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes division. "This is exactly the type of crime we have investigators in place to deal with. It is a very disturbing act and we are glad to get a monster like this off the street. The allegations are specific, and were confirmed by the confession of Mr. Colvin", said Boone County Sheriff Randall White.
If convicted Colvin faces between 15 to 35 years in prison. He is currently in jail awaiting arraignment by a Boone County Magistrate.
