WV Attorney General sues auto dealer in Huntington, WV
HUNTINGTON, WV -
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey filed suit in Cabell County, WV against Thomas J. Matthews, operator of Downtown Used Auto Sales.
The business, located in Huntington, WV, has received 22 formal complaints that accuse the business of violating state consumer protection laws. The complaints launched an investigation in Sept. 2012.
The complaints accuse Downtown Used Auto Sales of selling unsafe vehicles, vehicles that couldn’t pass inspection, and several other violations of the State’s laws.
The suit asks the court to prohibit Matthews from violating the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act, and also asks the court to award civil penalties to the State and restitution to all consumers who have been affected by the practices.
