Man arrested for arson in Huntington, WV

A man was arrested Friday, May 16 for setting fire to a residence in Huntington, WV.

According to a criminal complaint, 33-year-old Timothy Raymond Whitten was charged with first degree arson.

Whitten told police that he set fire to a residence at the 1600 block of 6th Avenue, between Hal Greer Blvd. and 17th Street, shortly before 6 p.m.  Whitten used paper and placed it under a couch in the living room of the residence, and started the fire with a lighter.  The complaint says Whitten fled the scene and was later seen at the TTA Bus Station, where he was arrested

According to several neighbors, the residence was believed to be unoccupied.

No injuries were reported.

Whitten was arraigned Saturday, May 17, at the Cabell County Magistrate Court, and is being held in the Western Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
