UPDATE: Identity of body found floating in Ohio River near Huntington, WV released
HUNTINGTON, WV -
UPDATE: The body of man found floating in the Ohio River on Sunday, June 8 has been identified as Michael Kelley Byrom, 42 of Kanawha County, WV
According to a press releases issued by the Huntington Police Department Byrom was a victim of a drowning.
Investigators were able to positively identify Byrom after forensic units obtained fingerprints from the location along the Ohio Rive near Huntington where his body was recovered.
At this time, Huntington Police do not believe foul play was the cause of Byrom's death.
However, police are treating his death as suspicious in nature as they try and investigate specific activities Byrom participated in before his death.
Byrom was listed as a suspect in case involving a vehicle stolen from Charleston, WV. According to the same press release, that vehicle was found in Harris River Front Park on Saturday, June 7.
Harris Riverfront Park is the area where Huntington Police originally received a call about a body floating in the Ohio River on Sunday, June 8, just before midnight. _____ ORIGINAL: Cabell County 911 confirms a body was found floating in the Ohio River along Harris Riverfront Park in Huntington, WV.
The unidentified man was found sometime before midnight on Sunday, June 8.
