Storms hit Logan county hard Tuesday night. For the majority of our region, no injuries were reported. In Logan County, however, that was not the case. One family said they’re lives changed forever.
Brianna Vance had a life-saving idea. It all started after severe storms tore through Logan County. She said, "I was scared. I needed help. My dad needed help. So I had to post that."
Brianna's dad, Gregory Vance, and his two friends were sitting on their front porch along Big Valley Road in Pecks Mill. Vance's girlfriend, Brenda and their two children were inside. Then came the storm.
Brenda said, "I had barely enough time to turn around, and I heard something go kabam!"
A massive tree came crashing down, right where the three men were standing. "I hollered out the door,” Brenda said. “I said, Greg, Greg, where are you honey? I got no response."
All three of the men were trapped beneath the heavy trunk and limbs. The storm made it impossible for the family to dial 911 on their cell phones. There's no land line. That brings us back to Brianna's frantic Facebook post.
She fought back tears. She said, "The lightening crashed and hit a tree by our porch and my dad's almost dead. He needs an ambulance please. Please call one for us if you have signal. We live in a yellow house, a trailer. Please. We need an ambulance. Please. Please."
Her desperate plea for help was answered. Soon firefighters with the Henlawson Fire Department showed up with the tools to free the trapped men. Brianna captured the moment on her phone.
The men were rushed to Logan Regional Hospital. Everyone has been released, except for Brianna's dad. The good news is he's expected to be just fine.
A desperate cry for help, answered. This family is calling it a miracle.
According to his girlfriend, Vance suffered a broken collar bone and five broken ribs.
